READING:
Hopefully, you saw the Scholastic Book Order that went home last week.  If you are interested in ordering, please do so by Monday, May 14th.  If you are ordering online, you can use the parent code HM67V.  This will be our last book order for the year.  It's a great time to stock up on books for some summer reading! ;) So many great options and deals online. Take a look and submit your order by next week Monday, May 14.

Continue to have your child read at home to work toward completing our reading challenge.  The challenge requires students to read 8 different books ranging from a chapter book, a picture book, an informational book, a poem, and much more!  Students will also be asked to share their favorite book with the class.  Students will give their favorite book an "Eagle Book Award" that we made in class.  Small prizes will be given to students that complete the challenge.  I can't wait to hear about their favorite books and begin giving out prizes!!!

MATH:
Next week we will wrap up Unit 6: 3-Digit Addition and Subtraction.  We will take two days to review for this assessment.  Please look for a review paper coming home next Friday.  This assessment will cover reading and writing number to 1,000, skip counting by 1's, 10's, and 100's, comparing two 3-digit numbers, addition within 1,000, and subtraction within a 1,000.  Students have been working hard to understand these concepts.  Their hard work is definitely preparing them to be successful on our upcoming asssessment.

Also, last week I introduced the game BLINK to the class.  A handful of students had played it before, but it was a new game to many.  The students are loving this strategic, fast pace game.  BLINK could be a great addition to your game collection at home.  It could make for lots of summer fun!
