Book Fair

This is an exciting week at Bauer! The book fair is all set up and ready for our excited readers! We previewed the books TODAY.  Look for a sheet coming home with a list of books that your child was interested in. This Book Fair is a BOGO- meaning that with the purchase of one book, you will get a free book of equal or lesser price! New this year is a donation box. If you are looking to get rid of any books that are no longer used in your home, they can be brought in. These books will go to the classrooms in the school, so all levels of children's books are okay! Also new this year, there will be teacher wish lists posted to donate books to our classroom.
We will be purchasing books (if you choose to do so) on Thursday, April 17 at 9:30. You are welcome to come and shop with your child anytime Thursday or Friday. Be sure to include 6% sales tax to the books you are purchasing (no need to add tax for the free books). Please let me know if you have any questions!

Movie Celebration

This week students wrote an opinion writing piece about a movie they wanted to watch.  The most convincing piece would be chosen and we would get to watch that movie.  The winning author was.... Tyler!  He persuaded us to watch Ratatouille.  We loved every minute.

Here is his writing:

Ratatouille is the b-e-s-t best movie in the world.  It is a rat-jammed, action packed movie for the whole classroom.  I know we are all going to love it.

One reason I like Ratatouille is because it has the greatest characters in the world!  There's one rat who wants to become a chef.  There's also a mean boss who yells at everybody, including a guy you doesn't cook well until the rat helps him.

Another reason I like Ratatouille is because of the music.  The music will make you get up from your chair and make you start tap dancing.  I also like the music because they have sound effects.  Some sound effects are loud.  Other sound effects are quiet.  I know we will love this movie.

Ratatouille is the best movie in the world!!!!  This movie is about two things: a rat and a restaurant in Paris.  I think we should watch this movie!

Way to go Tyler!

Reading is on me day!

We are covered in words!

Updates

I do not have a newsletter for this week; however, I did want to remind you of a few upcoming events and dates.

We will be having a Scholastic Book Fair at Bauer on Tuesday, April 15 through Friday, April 18.  We will go to the book fair on Tuesday to preview books.  I will send kids back to the book fair on Thursday (April 17) to purchase books.  The book fair is BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE!  This is a great opportunity to stock up on new books.

I did NOT send home any new homework this week.  Please take this time to catch up on reading!  Students should be at 75% of their SRC goal by Wednesday, April 16.  If they accomplish this goal, they will get to wear a hat to school on Friday, April 18.  Happy reading!!!

We will have two field trips this year.  The first one will be on Friday, May 2.  We will be taking a walking field trip of Hudsonville and end at the bowling alley!  More details will be coming home after spring break.  Our second field trip is scheduled for Friday, May 23.  We will be traveling to Frederik Meijer Gardens to learn more about plants.  Parent chaperones are welcome on both trips so save the dates!

Also, I want to officially welcome a new student to the classroom.  We are excited to have Savannah in our room.  We are all becoming great friends already.  Here is an updated class picture with all 28 of us!

I hope you all have a wonderful spring break!
