READING:
March has been a busy month celebrating reading month! We have enjoyed meeting with reading buddies from Mrs. Windeler's class, D.E.A.R. time, dressing up, BINGO and joke day. Keep looking at your March reading calendar at home to prepare your student for events.  Monday is "Dress Like A Movie Character Day"!    The possibilities are almost endless!!!

Keep recording reading minutes on our Weekly Reading Logs!   Thanks!

WRITING:
We have completed our first opinion writing piece about a restaurant, book, movie, popular spot, or video game.  Students challenged themselves to add more convincing details and examples to support their opinions.  Next week we will write another opinion piece on a new topic.

MATH:
We continue to use our addition and subtraction strategies to solve 2-digit and 3-digit equations while solving word problems.  It has taken a lot of perseverance, but their determination has brought much success.  They have a solid understanding of these concepts.  Next week we will apply our learning to comparison word problems and two-step word problems.

GROWTH MINDSET:
Words to encourage a growth mindset...
-You tried really hard on that!
-You never gave up, even when it was hard!
-What a great friend you are!
-I admire the way you...
-It is so nice you value other people's opinions.

Also here are some pictures from Fort Friday!  The students had a blast reading in their forts.  The classroom has never looked this fun!!!
