Friday Folders

Today your child brought home his/her Friday folder.  It is FULL of papers from the week and information from the office.  Please make sure to check out both pockets of the folder so you don't miss a thing.  Also, you will find a Friday Folder Communicator in the middle of the folder.  Please date and initial this paper every week.  If you happen to have a question or comment for me, there is space for that too.

Please help remind your child to return his/her Friday folder to school on Monday!

First week of school

What an awesome first week of school! This is an incredible group of kids and I look forward to what the school year has to bring. Thank you for sharing them with me! 
Attached you will our weekly newsletter.  This newsletter contains information about the upcoming week and many important dates for the month.  I also wanted to thank all of the volunteers that signed up to help in the classroom and at our holiday parties.  We still need a head parent for the winter party on Thursday, December 18 and a few more helpers for the Valentine's Day party on Friday, February 13.  Please let me know if you are willing to help.

Thursday

It is with a heavy heart that I will be out of the classroom tomorrow due to the passing of my uncle.   It is unfortunate timing being the third day of school.  I don't like missing time away from the class; however, I know they are in good hands.  John Oly, one of our instructional aides will be in the classroom all day.  I will be excited to see all of the second graders again on Friday.

Welcome to our Second Grade Blog!  I am so glad you came to visit!  This is the place to go for all things 2nd Grade!  To make it easier, you can subscribe to our blog so that you will receive an email each time I post something.  To do this, enter your email address in the top right box under the words, "Get an email when I post."

As you shop the back to school sales, we are always in need of donations! Below is a list of recommended items to start looking for! Thank you in advance for your help!

* small pencil box (5×8)

* one dozen sharpened pencils

* glue sticks (at least 3)

* one inch clear view hardcover binder (exactly one inch please!)

* one pair of headphones/earbuds in a baggy labeled with your name

* any extras you would like (special markers, colored pencils, etc.)

* an extra pair of tennis shoes to keep at school for gym

Our Open House will be on Wednesday, August 27 from 6:30-7:30pm.  I can’t wait to see you there!  I will have a packet of information for you.  Also, your parents will get to sign up for fun ways to help us out!

Award Ceremony

Today they all walked (and actually some danced) their way down the red carpet to receive an award, special for them.  What an awesome group of kids. It's hard to believe we only a half day left of school. Cherishing these last few hours I have with your sweet kiddos! 

Also, they LOVED the goodies bags that Mrs. Leenheer graciously made for the class!  Thank you!  It was a fun celebration!
