READING:
Our informational book study continues this week! Students will begin to independently read nonfiction books to become expert on a given topic. We will read to identify main ideas and learn interesting facts. Students will begin to use their prior knowledge on a given topic as well as new learning from their reading to teach others. I am excited to watch our informational book clubs eagerly share interesting facts and compare their findings together.
WRITING:
We will continue to draft our opinion pieces this week by providing evidence to support and persuade. Our goal is to write at least three reasons to support our opinions. As we write, we will consider using transition words to keep our writing organized as well as details that are convincing.
MATH:
Next week we will take two days to thoroughly review for the Unit 4 math assessment. This assessment will cover money, 2-digit & 3-digit subtraction, and word problems. Students will take the assessment on Wednesday. A review test will come home on Tuesday for you to review with your child. We will also begin Unit 5 with an introduction on telling time.
OTHER NEWS:
Today I have sent home a note indicating your child’s day and time for our upcoming conference in March. Please check over this time and let me know if you have a complication. Please fill out the conference paper and return to school to confirm your conference. Thanks!
Thank you for all of the contributions to Kid’s Food Basket. We were able to raise over 100 items to help fill sack suppers. Your generosity has not gone unnoticed!!!
Look at all of the donations! THANK YOU!! |
