February 27: Newsletter

Here is the newsletter for the week...

Newsletter

This week we started our typing class.  The students are learning so much!  It is so fun to watch their confidence grow as they are learning the correct way to type each key.  Today I have sent home a paper that explains the program we have been using here at school.  It also suggests way that you can have your child practice at home.  I did put a typing link on our blog as well!

If you have not confirmed your Parent Teacher Conference time yet, please do so by Monday.  Thank you!  I look forward to meeting with you in a couple weeks!!!

You will notice that your child has three pages of math homework this week.  Each page is a way for your child to practice solving word problems.  However, please check over homework page 4-21 very carefully.  These problems are two step word problems and require students to do TWO steps to get the correct answer.

From the office:
It is that time of year again when the different illnesses are spreading through the schools.   Some symptoms to watch for are: chills/fever, headaches, skin eruption, runny nose, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, and a sore throat.  When your child shows signs of illness (especially fever, vomiting, diarrhea) it is important to keep him/her home from school for at least 24 hours with no symptoms present.  Please notify the school of the nature of your child's illness. We appreciate all your help with trying to keep everyone healthy!

We did it!

Thank you for all of the donations to our service project!  Our goal was to donate 75 items to Kid's Food Basket and we EXCEEDED our goal by 30 items.  Way to go!!!  Thank you for supporting our project.  It was fun to watch the excitement in the classroom as they were able to help other kids in a local community.

Kid's Food Basket Service Project

Here are a few updates on our Kid's Food Basket service project.  First, the students have enjoyed decorating a couple sack supper bags this week.  They are very thoughtful with the pictures and messages that they are using to brighten up the bags.  Here are a few:

Also, the students decided to try and collect 64 boxes of juice boxes in a two week time period (up to the turquoise line in the picture).  This is a steep goal, but I know they can do it!  We will be collecting the juice boxes right outside our classroom door.  You can check out our mountain of juice boxes at Parent Teacher Conferences.

WE NEED 36 MORE BOXES!!!
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS GREAT CAUSE!
ONE WEEK TO GO!!!
