Career Day

Today was Career Day!

We had many different careers represented today.  Can you find the teachers, athletes, marine biologist, race car driver, and Navy Seal?  There are many more, too!  Enjoy the pictures!!!

PLANTS

Today we had a local community member (Brenda Raterink) visit our classroom to teach us more about PLANTS!  We even were able to plant our own seeds!  Today the students planted a green bean seed and Indian corn.  We have learned a lot about the needs of plants so the students should know that their seeds need water, sunlight, and air.  I hope you have fun watching the plants grow this spring and summer!

Friday is Career Day!

Friday is a spirit day...CAREER DAY!  

Have your child dress up as the profession they want to be when they grow up.

Bond Election Information

Bond Election - August 4, 2015

On August 4, Hudsonville Public Schools is asking voters to consider a $21.9 million bond proposal.  The proposal would address continued growth in the district by funding renovations and additions as well as secure entrances, technology enhancements and bus replacements.  If successful, the district expects to maintain the current millage rate of 7 mills by utilizing the state’s School Loan Revolving Fund to extend the debt levy for six additional years.

Hard to believe there are only 4 more weeks of school! This is where it gets really exciting-- we run out of time nearly every day... too many fun things to do!

I want to thank you for all of the generous gifts for teacher appreciate week!  I feel very spoiled and LOVED!  I am so honored to work with all of you and this wonderful group of 2nd graders.

Field Trip

We had a GREAT day at Frederik Meijer Gardens!

Thank you to all of the chaperones that joined us.  We LOVED having you with us today!

We started the day exploring the children's garden.

Then we had lunch and played duck, duck, goose when we were done eating.

In the afternoon, we had a guided tour of the three indoor gardens and then learned more about plant parts in a classroom at the gardens.

It was a fun filled day!!!  I think we will all sleep well tonight!

May 1: Newsletter

Welcome to May!  What a great start to the month!  I hope you get a chance to enjoy the warmth and sunshine.

You may have noticed that your son/daughter was able to check out a FREE CHOICE book this week in the library.  They were very excited to get a book outside of their SRC level.  The students know that the time in the classroom should be spent reading a good fit book.  The free choice books are for reading at home.  This will give you a chance to read new books with your child at home.

Our field trip is Wednesday, May 6.  We are very excited to go to Frederik Meijer Gardens to learn more about plants.

Here is a list of items your child will need for our field trip:

• Red Habit Shirt
• Sack Lunch (everything needs to be disposable and the lunch bag be labeled with your child's name)
• Comfy Shoes
• Clothes Appropriate for the Weather (we will spend part of our day outside)
