Next week we will continue with our typing lessons.  Students have already learned how to type many keys without looking at the keyboard.  It is fun to see all of the students placing their fingers on the home row keys and using proper hand positioning while typing.

Next week we will kick off our theme for March is reading month with an assembly on Wednesday, March 2.  Please have your child wear his/her habit shirt on this day.

Next week you will see the building transform into a Candy Land theme to remind students that READING IS SWEET!   Also, please see the attached calendar for all of our fun reading activities next month.

Another great opportunity...

Bandaid Competition:

Next week, February 29-March 4, Bauer will be collecting bandaids for the Helen Devos Children's Hospital. In celebration of Cambri Jewell's (Caden Jewell's sister) last chemo appointment, Jewell's are asking people to join them in giving back to the hospital by donating FUN bandaids that the patients can choose from after their chemo ports are removed. In efforts to collect as many boxes as we can, we are making this a competition. The class that brings in the most boxes of bandaids will win Sprinkles Donuts. If you would rather donate money, that is great too. We will go out and purchase bandaids with any money raised. 

IMPORTANT:  All band aids must be medication and latex free.  CURAD® and Nexcare™ are some of the best brands for latex free options. Thank you so much for considering this!

Also, please make sure to see the TWO papers in your child's Friday folder regarding Parent Teacher Conferences.  Today I have sent home a questionnaire for you to fill out prior to our conference.  You will also find a note indicating the day and time for our upcoming conference.  Please return this form by Friday, February 26.  Thank you!  I look forward to meeting with you next month.

We had a great Friday celebrating Valentine's Day!

A HUGE thank you to Michelle Wood for organizing another fabulous party.  Students played minute to win it games using candy hearts, decorated a heart shaped cookie with lots of frosting and sprinkles, and made adorable heart glasses.

We did it!!!

Thank you for all of the donations for Kid's Food Basket.  We made it to our goal and will be able to donate 68 boxes of baggies.  Way to go!!!!  As a 2nd grade team, we collected a total of 148 boxes.

Two More Days!!!

There are two days left for our Kid's Food Basket fundraiser.  Thank you for all the donations so far!!! Our goal was donate 68 boxes of snack size bags.  We are getting REALLY close.  Right now we have 53 boxes.  I know we can make it to our goal.  Only 15 more boxes to go!!!
