Today I sent home a note outlining a few things that you can do with your child this summer to help prepare for third grade.

Field Day
We will be having FIELD DAY on Tuesday, June 3. Our field day is on the playground from 1:00-2:30. Students will need athletic shoes, appropriate clothing for the weather, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
We are still looking for a few more parents to help volunteer on this day. If we could get TWO parents from our classroom to help out, that would be great. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are willing to help. Thanks!

Tomorrow is our field trip!
We are headed to Frederik Meijer Gardens tomorrow and the weather looks AMAZING!
We will eating at an outdoor pavilion; therefore, your child will need a sack lunch that can be completely thrown away when your child is done eating. Please write your child's name on the front of the bag. Your child should also wear his/her class t-shirt. We will be walking around the gardens most of the day so your child should wear comfy shoes and appropriate clothing for being outside part of the day. Also, you may want your child to have on sunscreen. We will be outside most of the morning hours.
Finally, thanks to all of the parents that volunteered to chaperone. I greatly appreciate your help! If you could arrive to school around 8:45, that would be great! We will leave promptly at 9:00 AM. A few parents may be able to join us on the bus. Otherwise, we will have parents carpool to the gardens.
Here are the chaperones that I am planning on:
Jen Alberda, Jen VanHuis, Danielle Bender, Becky Bush, Michelle Geysbeek, Sun Gunnink, Kary Bosma, Stacey Kempf, Jen Lopez, and Julie Leenheer. See you tomorrow!

School Family Picnic
Parents,
If you have read the Bauer Bits and/or saw the note that came home a few weeks ago, we will be having our Annual Bauer School Picnic on Friday, May 30 from 11:30-12:30. This is an opportunity to come and eat lunch with your child/children, enjoy some simple easy activities, and to have fun!
A note went home explaining that there will only be a sack lunch provided for hot lunch (meaning no lunch choices for that day). These need to be pre-ordered. I know many of you are probably planning to bring lunch for your child on that day! I want to be sure that no one is without a lunch, so if you are planning on your child needing to order lunch, please let me know as soon as possible so we can give Food Service our lunch count!
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions!

Newsletter: May 2
I am going to try to keep it short and sweet this week. I will not be writing a formal newsletter because I was out of the classroom a few days for a meeting and then sick. Instead, I thought I would just post a few reminders for the upcoming week. Plus, we had a field trip so don't miss the pictures from our day!
Homework 6-9, 6-10, 6-11, & 6-13 and take home task #23 will be due Friday, May 9.
Also, Friday, May 9 is our last school spirit day. It is NEON day! That should be fun!!!
We will review for our unit 6 math assessment on Monday and Tuesday. Our final assessment will be on Wednesday, May 7. I will send home a review for you to look over with your child on Tuesday.
Today I sent home your child's May spelling words. This is our LAST list of spelling words for the year! Please continue to practice these words at home. They will be assessed at the end of the month. Also, I did notice that many students are still having trouble spelling through, different, and very. It would be great to practice these words at home as well.
Have a great weekend!

Field Trip
The rain can't stop us from having fun!
Here are a few pictures from our day. Please notice the crazy bowling skills, our fun lunch, and the amazing dance moves.
We had a great time!
Rainy Day Field Trip
I guess this is normal weather for spring, but not great for an outdoor field trip. We thought the radar looked alright early this morning, but now as we look again there is a greater chance of rain. We know no one wants to be stuck outside in the rain so we decided to cancel the walking portion of our field trip. We are so bummed! However, we will still bowl and have lunch. Chaperones...please plan on meeting us at the Hudsonville Lanes at 12:00. It will still be a great day!

Field Trip Reminders
I wanted to remind you of a few things before our field trip on Friday. First of all, if it is raining, we will not do the walking tour of Hudsonville. Instead we will meet at the bowling alley at 12:00 for lunch and bowling. If this is the case, I will post it on the blog on Friday morning so you will know. Otherwise, we are planning on the tour and bowling (10:50-2:00)! Here are some other details:
1. All students need to wear their BLUE class shirts!
2. Your child does NOT need a lunch. We will still have our morning snack break.
3. If you are a chaperone for our class, please be at school by 10:45 so I can go over a few things with you.
4. There is not enough room for all parents to ride on the bus. We will need you to follow the bus. We will be dropped off at the new transportation department. Please park at the old bus barn parking lot because there is not enough parking at the new building (they are right next to each other). Thanks so much!
We are looking forward to a great time!
As you child might have mentioned, I have been out of the classroom yesterday and today. I am home with the flu, but I will be ready for our field trip tomorrow!
